In an e-mail to supporters, Linda Young, who runs KittyCorner, announced that the village of Liverpool has dropped its court case against the cat shelter.
The village had taken the shelter to court contending that its housing of some 50 cats violated a kennels law enacted last year that limited the number of cats a resident could keep to six. Dirk Oudemool, attorney for Young and KittyCorner, said that since the organization predated the law, it did not apply.
The village had requested adjournments in the case three times before finally dropping the case.
Young said she didn’t know what was next for the shelter, but she was pleased with the decision.
