At this point, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys indoor track and field team has not received a serious threat to its supremacy.
The Northstars’ first conquest of 2007 was registered last Wednesday night, in the Kirschenheiter Relays at Manley Field House, where it put up 80 points, again more than twice the amount of anyone else as Tully (34 points) was a distant second.
Ben Ludovici, Nathan MacNabb, Brandon Marlow and Jake Whritenour set the winning tone for CNS by covering the distance medley relay in a time of 11:05.57, more than 11 seconds clear of runner-up Tully.
The fun continued in the 55-meter hurdles, where Andy Neumeister (8.33 seconds) and Ty Howington (8.43 seconds) that, added up to 16.76 seconds, held off CBA (17.06 seconds) for the top spot on the podium.
Howington and Whritenour joined James Thurn and Zach Marchese as CNS ran away with the 4×400 relay in 3:40.83, nearly six seconds better than Nottingham (3:46.58), who got second.
The Northstars’ other victory came in the triple jump, where Andy Neumeister (40 feet 7 inches) and Andy Kahl (40 feet 6 1/4 inches) were third and fourth, respectively, among individuals on their way to the combined title with 81 feet 1 1/4 inches.
Kahl also topped individuals in the high jump, clearing 6 feet 4 inches, as he and Craig Barber (5 feet 6 inches) got second place in the team event.
In the 1,600 sprint medley, Ludovici, Mike Fischer, Jeff Azzoto and Devin Young combined for second place with a time of 3:43.64. Only Fayetteville-Manlius (3:41.84) fared better.
MacNabb, Kevin Cusworth, Nick Taddeo and Jeff Dunbar earned third in the 4×1,600 relay in 19:24.87. Dan Minahan and Jeff VanderWalker combined for 83 feet 1 1/4 inches in the triple jump and third place, as Barber (11 feet 6 inches) and Fischer (8 feet 6 inches) shared third place in the pole vault.
CNS also got fourth place in the 4×200 relay (1:39.01) and fifth place in the 4×800 relay (8:58.93) as Azzoto, Ben Brown, Nick Orlando, Vincent St. James, Matt Perkins, Wes Kufel, Joe Losito and Aaron Reardon all took part.
