When the curtain rises at Syracuse Stage, five actors will create a world of characters – 39 characters, to be exact.
To kick off the 2006/2007 season, Syracuse Stage is presenting Around the World in 80 Days which is currently running until Oct. 15. Around the World in 80 Days, Mark Brown’s distinctive adaptation of Jules Verne’s 19th century scientific-adventure novel, is exclusively sponsored by M&T Bank.
In the year 1872, the unflappable Phileas Fogg risks his entire fortune on a 20,000 wager that he can travel around the world in just 80 days. Accompanied by Passepartout, his French servant, Fogg sets out on a whirlwind trip traveling by sea, railway and even elephant. Meeting with several unforeseen challenges in their path, the cast of characters takes on each new obstacle with wit and humor. Directed by Russell Treyz, laughs abound in this race around the globe and against the clock.
Tickets for Around the World in 80 Days range in price from $22 to $44 and are available by calling the Syracuse Stage Box Office at 443-3275 or visiting the website: SyracuseStage.org. Season ticket subscriptions and 6-packs are also available.
