The Food Bank of Central New York held its 18th annual Member Program Conference and Community Awareness Day Friday at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool. The event featured workshops and speeches on hunger relief and the logistics of running a food bank.
Vicki Escarra, CEO of America’s Second Harvest, was the event’s keynote speaker. Escarra called the programs available at the Food Bank of CNY best in class and noted that her organization is hoping to implement programs currently in use in New York in other states.
The Food Bank of CNY serves 11 counties and has 580 programs. Its volunteers delivered some 10 million pounds of food last year.
