Ann T. MacDonald, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at Auburn Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old.
Born in Lockport, N.Y., in 1941, Ann was the daughter of John and Margert Lynch She graduated from D’Youville University with a degree in early education and later received her master’s degree in education from the University of Buffal. After devoting her time to raising her five children, Ann embarked on a fulfilling career as a librarian assistant at Syracuse University, where she continued to nurture students’ love for learning.
Ann’s life was deeply touched by the loss of her husband, Roy, in 2021, and her daughter, Cara, in 2023. Despite these immense losses, Ann remained a beacon of strength, resilience and unwavering love for her family and faith.
Ann is survived by her four children: John (Mary) MacDonald of Belmont, MA; Patrick (Amy) MacDonald of Skaneateles; Thomas (Lauren) MacDonald of Marcellus; and Kate (Travis) Ryan of Skaneateles. She is also cherished by her son-in-law, Eric Lindgren, of Marcellus. Together, Ann’s children have blessed her with 13 grandchildren, whom she adored and was immensely proud of.
When asked about her favorite part of life, Ann always replied, “When my kids were young, we had so much fun!” Her family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Ann is also lovingly remembered by her four sisters: Kathleen Piper (identical twin), Ellen O’Shea, and Mary Gardner.
A funeral service was held for Ann on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Ann’s family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts as a woman of unwavering love, kindness, and strength. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will be cherished forever.
