Dinosaur Hide & Seek | Throughout November: Help! Dinosaurs have gotten loose and we need your help to find them. Check out one of our “NEW” books in the Children’s Room. If you find a dinosaur cutout hidden in your book, you can turn it into the library for a mini dinosaur character to take home and color.
Playdough Explorations | Friday, November 4th from 10:30 – 11:00 AM: Join us on the first Friday of the month for a special program for kids 18 months to 3 years. Each child will explore simple ways to play, mold, and squish taste-safe playdough. This program helps to develop fine motor skills, introduce cutting with safety scissors, and inspire creativity.
Dinos After School: Volcanoes | Monday, November 7th from 4:30 – 5:30 PM: Learn about volcanoes and construct your own to erupt at the library! For ages 7 – 9.
Sit ‘n Stitch | Tuesday, November 8th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt, cross stitch, etc? Bring your WIP (work in progress), meet new friends, and connect with old ones! While this is not an instructional class, learn from the wisdom of others and share ideas. The Sit ‘n Stitch group will meet on the second Tuesday of every month.
Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, November 8th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend.
Drop-in Play: Blocks | Friday, November 11th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Looking for something to do when school is closed? Drop-in at the library to build with our large blue blocks and magnatiles. For ages 18 months – 7 years.
Meet a Therapy Dog: Nessie | Friday, November 11th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM: Drop in at the library to meet Nessie! Read her a short story from our collection or simply soak up all her peaceful doggie vibes. Location: Children’s Room. For kids beginning to read independently to age 18.
Guitar Concert: John Ferrara | Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 PM:
John Ferrar’s eclectic repertoire includes an assortment of solo guitar works from the Renaissance to the present day. A large portion of his music focuses on Spanish & Latin American Guitar Masterpieces. His repertoire consists of original works composed for guitar as well as transcriptions from many musical sources.
He has performed at local schools, colleges, libraries, guitar festivals and a number of performing arts organizations. IIn addition to honing his skills as a performing artist, John is an award winning teacher & entrepreneur. John is an instructor to a large number of students at the Music School of CNY. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Onondaga Community College. Many of his students have advanced to careers in music & have been accepted into top colleges & universities nationwide.
Elementary School Book Club | Sunday, November 13th at 2:30 PM: Each month we’ll read a book or graphic novel and then get together to chat about the book and do an activity. This month’s book is The Dragon Slayer : Folktales from Latin America by Jamie Hernandez. For kids in grades 3 – 5.
Dinos After School: Fossil Dig | Monday, November 14th from 4:30 – 5:30 PM: Pretend to be a Paleontologist as you scrape through a plaster brick in search of real fossils! For ages 7 – 9.
Chess Club | Tuesday, November 15th 6:00-7:30 PM: Chess has been played for over 1000 years, and is recognized around the world. Wonder how to play? Looking for over-the-board competition? Join us for an evening of chess instruction and play! All ages and skill levels are welcome!
History of Ukraine with Tom Henry | Thursday, November 17th at 6:00 PM
Tom Henry, an award-winning teacher and professor, will discuss the history and culture of Ukraine, including a brief overview of current events. Evening Book Club: The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo| Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30 PM: It’s easy to join our book clubs! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Meetings are casual and everyone is welcome. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month.
This month we’re reading The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo. The novel pulls us into a world of servants and masters, age-old superstition and modern idealism, sibling rivalry and forbidden love. But anchoring this dazzling, propulsive novel is the intimate coming-of-age of a child and a young woman, each searching for their place in a society that would rather they stay invisible.
