Donald W. Cotter, of Skaneateles, passed away on July 22, 2022. He was 68 years old. Donald was born Jan. 13, 1954, in Valley Stream, N.Y., to William and Alice Cotter. He grew up in Valley Stream and Skaneateles. He graduated from Skaneateles Central Schools and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
He worked in the local television industry for many years. He was General Manager of Newchannels cable company in Rome, N.Y., and also worked for Time Warner Cable news channel and at WSYR TV in Syracuse.
Donald is survived by a daughter, Emma Halley Rector and husband, Adam; a son, Zachary Hanlon Cotter and fiancé, Jennifer Ritter; and grandson, Emmett Rector, all of Keene, NH. He is also survived by three sisters: Carol Schneider of Pasadena, MD, Mary Cotter of Manlius and Alice Herlihy and husband, Paul of Manlius; a brother, James Cotter and wife, Anne Grebert of Troy, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Betty Anne “Betsy” Cotter of Keene, NH; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, William J. Cotter.
Burial will be private.
