Jerome “Jerry” A. Young, 88, of Marietta passed away peacefully Friday April 15, 2016 at The House of John in Clifton Springs surrounded by his family. Born in Avon, MN., he worked for several local school districts as a mechanic and retired from Kennedy Chevy in Skaneateles after 42 years. Jerry also loved cutting lawns, which he did for over 30 years. He was a Seabee in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and Korea. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Mary “Libby” in 2012
Jerry is survived by his sons Paul (Cheryl) of Tully, Kevin (Lisa) of Marcellus and Brian (Sue) of Clifton Springs, half sisters Adelaide Cox and Elsie Haupt. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Derek (Erin), Tim (Erin), Laurie (Andy), Katie, Grant and Connor and great grandchildren Landyn, Brystol, Madison, Aiden, and Nora and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at St. Francis Xavier Church. The rite of committal was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus. Relatives and friends called on the family from 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 18, at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
