LEMOYNE COLLEGE – On Sunday, March 5 at 4 p.m., Gina Lamparella, a Baker High graduate, will be performing with The Jazzuits, at Le Moyne College in the Jesuits Theater.
The concert celebrates 50 years of Disney with ensemble, trios, and quartets performing 21 Disney tunes by the Jazzuits and Lamparella.
Some songs planned for the performance include “Let it Go,” “The Bare Necessities,” “Hakuna Matt,” Under the Sea,” and more, all with a jazz inspired twist.
Lamparella, grew up in Baldwinsville and discovered her love of jazz under the leadership of Carol Jacobe at C.W. Baker High School. She continued singing with the vocal jazz group at Syracuse University while studying musical theater.
Lamparella has appeared on Broadway in Caroline, or Change (Rose Gellman and Grandma Gellman standby), ThePhantom of the Opera, A Little Night Music (Mrs. Segstrom/ Charlotte understudy), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Christine understudy), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), Gypsy, starring Bernadette Peters, (Electra/Miss Cratchitt understudies), Imaginary Friends (Mary’s Imaginary Friend/Beguine dancer), Jane Eyre (Blanche Ingram) and Les Misérables (Fantine and Cosette understudies).
She has appeared regionally as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, Thaisa in Pericles, Miranda in The Tempest, Polly in Crazy For You, Cinderella in Cinderella, Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Trina in In Trousers.
TV appearances include The Blacklist, Master of None, All My Children, As the World Turns and Guiding Light, as well as upcoming season three of HBO Max’s The Other Two.
As a director, Lamparella has worked on I Monologhi della Vagina in Florence, Italy; My Life as a Professional Pancreas at The Network 2012 One-Act Festival in New York City; Richard II and Crazy For You at The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival; and the WillPower tours of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet.
