The schedule for the ninth annual Hamilton International Film Festival has been announced. Dozens of international filmmakers and industry leaders will be visiting the Madison County village throughout the week.
On Wednesday, July 26, there will be a series of international short films screening at the Hamilton Movie Theater. “Wednesday night will really have something for everyone,” said festival founder Grant Slater. “It will be a mix of several genres and feature a strong list of shorts including local filmmaker, Mark Needham’s film, ‘Thursdays.’”
On Thursday, July 27, Slater Brothers Entertainment will continue their annual benefit screening for Hamilton Central School, with 100 percent of the ticket sales donated to the local school. Several Filmmakers will be in attendance to present their films and support the HCS Benefit, including Stephanie Iscovitz with “Bruce Loves You,” Ryan Brown with “Tom, The Knife Salesman,” Dutch Filmmaker Vasily Chuprina with “The Boy by the Sea” and Eric Shahinian with “Foreign Sounds.” Screening will begin at 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Movie Theater.
On Friday, July 28, the festival will feature a series of short films including Jacqueline Murphy’s award winning “The Admired,” Rick Hamilton’s “Choices,” Stephen Riscica’s “It Gets Better?,” Gerard Bianco Jr’s “Reality Disorder” and Dana Shihadah’s “Northfound.” All five Filmmakers and members of their production team will be in attendance. Screening will begin at 8:15 p.m.
Saturday afternoon is going to filled with film industry activities. There will be a filmmakers panel discussion at the Colgate Bookstore at noon that is free and open to the public. The panel discussion will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. screening of “The White Puma,” a soccer documentary film presented by Danish Filmmakers Lasse Lorenzen and Steffen Niemann and “Food City: Feast of the Five Boroughs,” a film by Danish born and New York resident Lars Fuchs.
On Saturday night, the festival will screen, “Unleashed” a feature film directed by three time Sundance Film Festival alum Finn Taylor. Members of the production team and Taylor will be in attendance. The night will also showcase two shorts from the United Kingdom, Vijay D. Varu’s “833” and Sebastian Tree’s music video “Worry,” which reached no. 6 on the UK Charts. Varu will be in attendance. Screening will begin at 7 p.m.
The festival concludes on Sunday with a series of four short documentary films, including “Midway Drive-In: A Reason to Celebrate” by Oswego filmmaker Peter Mahan. Screening will begin at noon.
Tickets prices are $6 for individual Screenings and $30 for a festival pass which is accepted for all six paid screenings. Tickets can be purchased at The Hamilton Movie Theater or online at hamiltontheater.net.
