Cazenovia — Lego My Library: 3:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, in the community room
Jenna Wright-Martin invites children ages three and older and their families to the popular LEGO My Library program. Using the Library’s collection of Lego and Duplo blocks, children and their families will have the opportunity to build and create something spectacular.
Cazenovia Readers Book Club: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the story garden.
The January selection “The Invention of Wings” is Sue Monk Kidd writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts. Here, Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.
Books are available at the circulation desk
Open Afternoon Book Club: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the story garden.
For January, this group has selected Toni Morrison’s “God Help the Child,” a tale about the way the sufferings of childhood can shape, and misshape, the life of the adult. Books are available at the circulation desk.
Coloring, Cookies, and Conversation: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, in the community room.
Adults are invited to pick up a coloring book and color — while munching on cookies and visiting with friends and neighbors. It’s an accessible and inexpensive creative outlet that lets you relax, switch off and focus on something calming.
The coloring designs appeal to every interest — from whimsical doodles to circular mandalas, nature scenes and fantasy worlds — and participants can color outside the lines or leave a picture unfinished. Cookies and conversation as well as all supplies are provided.
All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information, call 655-9322 or visit cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
The library will be open during regular hours on Monday, Jan. 18, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
