Choir members and clergy from 12 local congregations will combine for a magnificent festival of Advent Lessons and Carols. The service, beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville, will feature various denominations readings the well-loved verses which foretell the coming of Christmas. Lessons and Carols is a non-denominational, ecumenical, public event. No church membership or attendance is required. Admission is free.
The goal of the event is to create a peaceful and intentional way of anticipating Christmas, in contrast to the often hectic pace of the world. Freewill donations also will be accepted to help prepare the local food pantry for the holiday season.
Ron Hebert is choirmaster and coordinator for the event, and Aaron Sprague is the organist. Hebert is the retired district coordinator of music for Fayetteville-Manlius Schools and Sprague is the organist/choirmaster at Trinity Church, Fayetteville.
