Cazenovia — Three Cazenovia High School students have been selected for New York State Conference All-State Choral Ensembles, while a fourth has been selected as an all-state orchestra alternate.
Seniors Timothy Kempton and Emily Kielbasinski will perform with mixed chorus and junior Whitney Denison with women’s choir. The students will participate in a concert held at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre in Rochester during the annual Winter Conference of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), to be held Dec. 3 through 6. In addition, junior cellist Saulo Ferreira, was selected as an alternate for the all-state orchestra.
Kempton, a junior, is the son of Shelly Kempton and David Blair. He has studied privately with Eric Toyama. This is his second time participating in Conference All-State. Kielbasinski is the daughter of Julie and Tom Kielbasinski. She studies voice with Patti Thompson. Last May, Kielbasinski was a finalist in the CNY Music Teachers Association Vocal Competition. Denison is the daughter of Kimberly Williams and Jon Denison. All three students are members of chamber choir and concert choir and have participated in the High School Drama Club spring musical.
Saulo, the son of Julie and Marcelo Ferreira, is a member of Orchestra and String Ensemble. He studies cello with Joanna Robertson and, last year, placed second in the string category of the B Sharp Music Club Scholarship Competition.
Students are selected for the all-state ensembles based upon NYSSMA solo scores received at the Zone 3 NYSSMA Solo Festival last May.
