Character development and illustration will be the focus of an art camp for students aged 9 to 12 at Common Grounds this month. Caitlin Clonan, a rising senior at Cazenovia High School, will direct the camp, which will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 8 through Thursday, Aug. 11.
Clonan has studied and practiced art for as long as she can remember, she said. For the past two summers, she has attended the New York State Summer School for the Arts for month-long art immersion. During the summer of 2015, she was selected for the visual arts program at SUNY-Fredonia, where she worked on drawing and painting.
This summer, Clonan was accepted into the Media Arts program and just recently returned from this residency at SUNY-Oswego. “This experience furthered my interest and skill in digital media, especially animation,” she said.
Clonan is also a published artist. Her whose cartoon, “Teen Tales,” appears bi-weekly in the Cazenovia Republican and Eagle Bulletin newspapers.
Clonan said she plans to study art in college and aspires to become an illustrator and/or animator.
To register for art camp, contact Kelli Johnson at 655-4468 or [email protected]. The fee for attendance is $60. Should the fee be prohibitive, state so in your inquiry. Requests for financial assistance will be handled discreetly.
