While the slots for many of Van Buren Parks and Recreation programs are taken, you can plan for festive fun as the holidays draw closer. Read on to see what winter fun is in store:
Pee Wee Basketball
This class is for kids in fourth and fifth grade. Participants will learn fundamental basketball skills and strategy, as well as experience intramural team play. The class takes place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 15 to Jan. 24. The cost of the program is $40.
Christmas Crafts
Keep your home glitter-free and let your kids unleash their Christmas creativity Saturday, Dec. 9, at Van Buren Town Hall.
• Make Your Own Christmas Ornaments: Kids will create four to eight Christmas keepsakes right before the holiday season. This class will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The cost of the program is $20 per child.
• Gingerbread House: No baking necessary! Real gingerbread pieces will be all ready to assemble and decorate without the mess of baking. Kids will be have icing, assorted candies, decorating bags and tips and a cardboard base to decorate with. We will be watching Christmas movies while assembling and decorating our houses. This class will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The cost of the class is $12 per child.
Santa’s Helper
Finish your Christmas shopping and drop your kids off for five hours of babysitting right before the holidays. Kids can make crafts, watch holiday movies, play games, decorate Christmas cookies, go sledding on the hill and more.
The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Van Buren Park lodge. The cost of the program is $15 per child.
