The Syracuse Crunch won two out of three games last week but the team received some even better news on Monday.
Syracuse’s National Hockey League affiliate, the Anaheim Ducks, returned right wing Kyle Palmieri to the Crunch.
Palmieri, 21, has appeared in 18 games with the Ducks this season totaling seven points (4g, 3a). Since being recalled from the Crunch on March 12, 2012, the winger recorded five points (3g, 2a) in seven games.
Prior to his recall Palmieri was leading the AHL in goals scored with 32, and is currently ranked third in scoring among Crunch players with 55 points (32g. 23a) in 42 games.
After beating the Rochester Americans 4-3 in a March 21 shootout in the Flower City, the Crunch dispatched the St. John’s IceCaps 5-4 here at the Onondaga County War Memorial on March 23, before losing 4-3 to the Amerks here March 24.
In its last 10 games, the team is 8-1-0-1, and still clings, however tenuously, to the last available playoff spot in the American Hockey League’s Eastern Conference. The regular season ends April 15.
The Crunch host the Adirondack Phantoms at the War Memorial Arena in the first game of a home-and-home series oat 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. After games in Glens Fall and Binghamton over the weekend, Syracuse returns home for a 7 p.m. face-off on Wednesday, April 4, against the Binghamton Senators at the War Memorial.
The Crunch is affiliated with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, while Binghamton is the top farm club of the Ottawa Senators. The War Memorial is downtown at State and Harrison streets. Ticket prices for home games range from $14 to $21; 473-4444.
