ONONDAGA COUNTY – Right before they hit their holiday break the Cicero-North Syracuse boys bowling team improved its overall record to 7-2 with two more impressive performances against top rivals.
First, the The Northstars shut out Fulton 7-0 on Dec. 20 at Lakeview Lanes and Nehemiah Bachmann was at the forefront, shooting more than 20 stikes in a 743 series which opened with a 258, continued with a 237 and concluded with a 248.
Garrett Arnold, just three days removed from his 300 game against East Syracuse Minoa on Dec. 17, remained solid with a 214, 216 and 235 for a three-game total of 665.
Terry Miller’s second-game 242 highlighted a 635 series which also had games of 194 and 198 as Cameron Miller twice shot 211 with a 169 in between on his way to a 591 series.
Another big match loomed Dec. 23 against Baldwinsville, but C-NS was ready for it and prevailed 5-2 even though, in total pinfall, the Bees had 3,628 and the Northstars 3,615.
Bachmann got going with a 268, fell to 177 but finished with 231 in his 676 series. Arnold’s steady 221, 224 and 210 got a 655 series, with Cameron Miller’s 226 part of a 607 series and Terry Miller shooting a 599 set as Hunter Baciuska stepped up with a 187, 202 and 200 for a 589 series.
Though not quite able to get the points on the board, the Bees still had a 634 series frrom Zenon Gasiorowski, a 614 series from Liam Reddy and 603 series from Jordan Sevigny, plus a 254 game from Liam Curry.
In girls bowling C-NS lost twice. Against Fulton, the unbeaten and reigning sectional Division I champions, it was a 7-0 decision where Trinity Short had a 483 series and high game of 177.
Jennifer Draper went from 145 to 153 to 161 in her 459 series, a sequential improvement. Lizzy Jones’ 424 series included a 180 game and Melody Schwartz closed with a 168 in her 421 set as Fulton standout Addison Nichols (who had a 300 earlier this season) shot a three-game total of 597 here helped by Taryn Murphy’s 583 set.
Another 7-0 defeat followed to B’ville. Short putting up games of 168, 140 and 155 in her 463 series but behind the Bees’ top trio of Sam Hass (567 series, games of 210 and 207), Morgan Diecuch (235 opening game, 541 series) and Lizzy Hildreth (511 series).
