CENTRAL NEW YORK – Each of the area’s four high school girls tennis teams had their busiest stretch of the season, timing with a more temperate climate that contrasted the blazing heat that postponed several matches a week earlier.
Westhill was 2-0 going into last Monday’s match with Manlius Pebble Hill and needed a doubles sweep to get past the Trojans 4-3.

Then, in the decisive doubles match, Kathleen Rogers and Isabella Johnson trailed early, but turned it around to beat Rose Fallon and Sabrina Loop 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Following this up, Westhill blanked Chittenango 7-0 on Wednesday, but three of the matches with the Bears went to three sets to go with singles wins by Flegel and Ramsing.

And Westhill kept itself unbeaten Friday at the expense of its neighbors from Marcellus, prevailing 6-1 over the Mustangs.

In doubles, Lauren Battaglia and Nicole Vasilev led early, yet could not hold it in a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 defeat to Anohki Dalal and Sonia LaHaye.
Then, in Friday’s 7-0 defeat to Baldwinsville, WG saw six different matches end in two sets. In doubles, Evelina Mauro and Cynthia Schnelker up in front, unable to hold on in a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 loss to Laine Zoanetti and Layla Trendowski.
Skaneateles returned to action last Wednesday and shut out Bishop Grimes 7-0. Only four of the matches were contested, the Lakers seeing Isabelle Sorderberg and Eva DeJesus win in singles as the doubles pairs of Caitlin Day-Katie Danforth and Bryn Butler-Georgia Kreidler also prevailed.
Before it met Westhill, Marcellus played twice earlier in the week. It took a 5-2 loss to Cazenovia last Monday afternoon, only able to win one of the six contested matches.
Ella Lutwin and Molly Moses got past Lila Campagna and Audrey Henry 7-5, 6-2. Clarke, Kelly and Xian Angotti lost in two sets, with Abby Finn and Katie Devereaux taking a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 defeat to Ava Galton and Katie Williams.
