BALDWINSVILLE – Offering an ideal conclusion to a strong regular season, each of the Baldwinsville track and field teams welcomed strong fields to the annual John Arcaro Co-Ed Classic on Friday evening.
And the boys Bees, following up an undefeated run through the SCAC Metro division, finished on top again, earning 81 points to beat out Fayetteville-Manlius (73) and Cicero-North Syracuse (71) for first place.
This came on top of what four other Bees did downstate at the Glenn D. Loucks Games where Logan Hayes, Evan Smith, Kaleb Paul and Jack McAllister were victorious in the 4×400 relay in three minutes, 25.18 seconds
At the Arcaro meet, David Dobrowolski’s led the B’ville boys by sweeping both throwing events, his discus throw of 145 1 inch just beating out the 144’2” from Cortland’s Bryan Hoan as Gibson Boudov (117’10” wsas fifth. Dobrowolski’s shot put of 44′ 1/2” beat out Whitesboro’s Anthony Tobiasz (43’2 3/4”) and the field.
Again victorious in a distance race, Solomon Holden-Betts tore to a time of one minute, 57.84 seconds in the 800-meter run and went 1-2 with Jack McAllister, who also broke the two-minute mark in 1:59.38.
This came after the Bees’ 4×800 relay team of Jeff Ragonese, Noah Covert, Logan Hayes and Ryan Wilson roared to victory in 8:10.90, more than 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Westhill (8:31.94).
Kyle Sheckler won, too, clearing 11 feet 6 inches in the pole vault with fewer misses than Whitesbor’s Noah Otto, while Griffin Killian, clearing 5’10”, earned fourth place in the high jump.
Keagan Hayes made his way to fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:47.24 as Arthur Bauer (9:54.15) beat out Adam Kozman (9:57.46) for fourth place in the 3,200-meter run.
Paul Clark ran 1,600 meters in 4:37.05 for fifth place, while Evan Smith took fifth in the 400-meter dash in 51.38 seconds. Jackson Creelman was sixth in the 110 high hurdles in 16.26. The Bees were fourth in the 4×100 relay in 44.95 and eighth in the 4×400 relay in 3:44.28 as Logan Zapf took eighth (38’8 1/4”) in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, in the girls Arcaro Classic B’ville earned 37 points and finished seventh as East Syracuse Minoa (69) edged C-NS (65) to claim team honors.
Kamryn Barton pulled away and, in the 800, prevailed in 2:24.25 to the 2:28.04 from Utica Proctor’s Megan Lew, while Sydney McKenney dominated the pole vault, her 10’6” beating a field where no one else topped 9 feet.
Madison Kennedy went 1:00.15 in the 400 sprint, second to Jamesville-DeWitt’s Nikki Militi (59.38) McKenney also was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.37, before Aaniya Johnson went 12.99 seconds in the 100-meter dash for sixth place.
Lyla Weber was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 28.41 seconds and Yolanda Wei took sixth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 8:22.53. B’ville finished fourth in the 4×100 relay in 52.20 seconds, sixth in the 4×400 in 4:25.61 and eighth in the 4×800 in 11:07.86. Natalie Bartkowiak finished 11th in the triple jump
Back on Monday afternoon, B’ville’s boys completed a 7-0 run through the Metro division during its three-team meet against West Genesee and Corcoran.
By a 99-42 margin, the Bees turned back the Wildcats, and it was even more lopsided with the Cougars, B’ville taking that match 114-27.
