BALDWINSVILLE – Two undefeated girls golf teams met last Friday afternoon at Timber Banks when Baldwinsville put its 3-0 mark on the line against 3-0 Fayetteville-Manlius Green.
What the Bees discovered was that, again, the Hornets possessed a deep and imposing roster that could work well on any course, handing B’ville its first defeat of the season 178-209.
For the second consecutive match, Eva Pawelek shot a 48 for nine holes to top the Bees, but five different F-M Green golfers shot lower, led by Gabby Dardis, whose 43 beat Erin Graves (44), Lindsey Chong (45), Alana Isley (46) and Elizabeth Noel (47).
Peyton Kowalski and Amelia Hahn tied for second among Bees golfers, each shooting 52, while Keagan Downes put together a 57.
Three days earlier, B’ville’s home opener against Liverpool turned into a nervous affair, with the difference coming in the top spot as the Bees held on to win 212-215.
Pawelek’s 48 was just ahead of the 51 from Liverpool’s Melanie Biviano – and the final team margin was three strokes.
Otherwise, the Bees got a 53 from Kowalski, a 55 from Hahn and a 56 from Julia Quinn, which equaled Liverpool’s Jewelyana Daniels (54), Ella Foriero and Maddie Turck (55 each).
B’ville this week has matches against both Cicero-North Syracuse teams along with one against F-M’s younger White team.
