SYRACUSE – For the second time in five days, the Cicero-North Syracuse girls indoor track and field team got the best of a battle with Fayetteville-Manlius at SRC Arena.
In this case, it brought the Northstars the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division championship, C-NS getting 166 points to the Hornets’ 148 as Liverpool finished fourth with 54 points.
Perhaps the best race of the night was the 600-meter run as Hannah Boyle, in two minutes, 55.13, edged out F-M star Hannah Kaercher’s 2:55.25 as Katy Harbold (3:11.86) was third.
Boyle also paired with Ava Fisher, Katy Harbold and Sophia Graham to win the 4×800 relay in 9:59.34. Liverpool had Kaleigh Buck, Meghan Moyer, Taylor Page and Addison Ziegler take second in 10:32.57.
In the 1,500-meter run, Kate Putman took her turn at the top, going 4:47.50 to hold off F-M’s Izzie Sullivan (4:48.35), with Marissa Navarra fourth in 5:00.80. Marissa Doty joined in when she won the 300-meter dash in 42.34 seconds as Grace Murray (43.44) was third.
C-NS won the 4×400 as Kate Putman, Molly McGrath, Elliana Ballagh and Cameron Sisk finished in 4:18.62 to edge Baldwinsville (4:19.23). Then, to complete a relay sweep, Doty, Murray, Jaydin Mackey and Julianna Remiesiewicz were victorious in the 4×200 in 1:50.45, edging Liverpool’s 1:50.58 put up by Sophia Jarosz, Mia Wright, Margaret Bellew and Anaharie Anderson.
Lilly Capria was victorious in the triple jump for C-NS, going 34 feet 1 inch as Gianna Boland (30’10 3/4″) was fourth. Moving to the high jump, Capria prevailed by topping 5 feet, with Murray (4’6″) tied for third.
Doty took second in the 600-meter run in 1:39.67 as Gabby Putman was third (1:41.81). Putman, in 10:42.35, edged Graham (10:42.42) for third place in the 3,000-meter run.
Jaydin Mackey was second in the 55-meter dash in 7.71 seconds, with Danielle Crivelli third in the 55 hurdles in 9.52 seconds as Jasmine Ayre (9.94) was fifth. Kaleigh Bosimenu had a second-place pole vault of 7’6″.
Ayre did better in the long jump, taking third place with 15’5″ as Crivelli was sixth. Maria Sanfilippo got fourth place in the weight throw as Ava Schiff was fifth in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put.
Liverpool got points from field events as Trinity Howard earned third place in the weight throw with 27’4″. Ariyah Racciatti was third (26’6 1/2″) and Taylor McCoy fourth (24’2 1/2″) in the shot put. Beatrize Gurgol had a fourth-place long jump of 14’9 1/4″.
Bellew took fourth in the 55 sprint in 7.85 seconds, with Anderson fourth in the 55 hurdles in 9.93 seconds. Buck finished fifth in the 3,000, with the Warriors fourth in the 4×400 in 4:25.96 and Kaitlin Hotaling sixth in the 1,500.
On the boys side in the SCAC Metro meet, Liverpool again got two wins from Jalen Graham as, with 72.5 points, it finished third, Baldwinsville (141) edging F-M (136) for the top spot and C-NS fourth with 56.5 points.
Graham, in the weight throw, unleashed a top attempt of 61’10” as no one else reached the 49-foot mark, and also won the shot put when he heaved it 44’5 1/2″. Sheldon Matas was fourth in the weight throw with 44’10 1/2″.
Ryan Hagan prevailed, too, his time of 2:37.91 in the 1,000 the only one under the 2:40 mark as Bennett Robb won the high jump by clearing 5’8″, two inches ahead of the field.
Also for the Warriors, Jacob Makhlouf went 10:30.01 in the 3,200-meter run to finish third, with J.T. Goss sixth in 11:08.19. G avin Kenna finished fifth in 2:47.05, Michael Purvis taking fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:54.09.
C-NS Saw Carlton Garnes win the 55 hurdles in 8.01 seconds, to go with a third-place triple jump of 40’6″. In the pole vault, Gavin McAllister prevailed by clearing 9’6″ as Liverpool’s Declan Fahy (8’6″) was third and Ethan LaMontagne (8 feet) fifth.
The Northstars’ James McConnell took fourth place in the 300 in 38.77 seconds and Trevon Walker was fourth in both the long jump (20’3″) and triple jump (38’11 3/4″). McAllister took fifth in the 600 in 1:32.34 and Justin Asch was sixth in the 1,600. Thomas Newton took sixth place in the shot put.
