CENTRAL NEW YORK – Through three largely lopsided matches, the Chittenango boys volleyball team has proven difficult to stop.
Opening its 2022 slate, the Bears traveled to Central Valley Academy last Tuesday night and wasted little time moving to 2-0 on the season.
The Bears’ 25-12, 25-15, 25-8 sweep of the Thunder featured seven aces from Trevor Cole to go with six kills as Jake Simmons, aside from his 15 assists, recorded five aces and two kills.
Nate Dziedzic finished with five kills and three aces. Quinn O’Brien also had five kills as Tyler Watson got three kills. Josh Boulter and Landon Parks had two kills apiece.
Two nights later, it was Chittenango against Oneida, with much the same outcome, only the Indians put up a few more points and made the Bears work harder, especially in the second set.
Still, the 25-17, 25-21, 25-13 decision featured Dziedzic, who augmented his eight kills with 13 digs. Watson helped on the front line, earning seven kills, with Boulter adding five kills.
Passing to all of them, Simmons finished the night with 23 assists, matching Micah Alperuto’s total of five digs. Cole finished with seven digs as he and Alperuto both put away three kills.
