ONONDAGA COUNTY – On the way to another series of victories, the Liverpool girls volleyball team reached a milestone.
The Warriors’ 25-12, 25-9, 25-9 sweep of Corcoran last Monday night meant that head coach Walter Brainerd had reached 100 career wins.
This match had little suspense, with Liverpool’s Lola Sageer picking up 10 kills as Lauren Poland earned six kills and Sophie Sageer contributed four kills.
Allyson Crandall, with seven assists, and Alexis Knox, with four assists, worked the back line as Addie Tanton got three assists. Crandall and Eliana Page both picked up four aces.
Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse would square off Wednesday night. Prior to that, though, the Northstars would challenge undefeated Baldwinsville on Monday night.
This followed a pair of sweeps against Syracuse city opponents, including last Monday’s 25-7, 25-12, 25-3 romp over Henninger that featured 14 aces from Natalie Tice and eight aces from Grace Crooks.
Tice also picked up 10 assists and Lauren Capone got five assists. Capone and Tice led the Northstars with three kills apiece. Alita Carey-Santangelo had four aces, with Maddy Manz earning seven digs.
Then it was Liverpool’s turn against Henninger, which resulted in a 25-8, 25-7, 25-6 sweep where Tanton paced the back line, earning 10 assists, and Victoria Slade got 10 digs.
Poland’s six kills paced the Warriors at the net. Elliana Vangelov joined Sophie Sageer in earning four kills, with Tessa Gullo getting three kills as Alexsis Knox nad Lola Sageer both had three aces.
C-NS, meanwhile, turned to Nottingham that same night and also cruised to a three-set victory, taking out the Bulldogs 25-8, 25-21, 25-12.
Carly Overend produced a team-best five kills. Carey-Santangelo, Jenna Pickard, Karley Eymer and Madison Roche had four kills apiece. Manz earned four aces and Overend three aces as Tice earned 13 assists and Carey-Santangelo amassed 13 digs, plus two blocks.
