ONONDAGA COUNTY – Having spent the early portion of the season establishing its place atop the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division standings, the Liverpool girls golf team now aimed to stay there.
The Warriors had rested for eight days before returning to action last Thursday against West Genesee at Westvale and, in its lone match last week, rolled past the Wildcats 192-236.
Over nine holes, the duo of Mia and Nataly Avotins matched each other, shooting dual rounds of 39, which were 12 shots clear of the 51 posted by WG’s top player, Maria Bove.
As for Cicero-North Syracuse, it had its Blue team take on Baldwinsville last Monday afternoon at Nothern Pines, where it took a 196-223 defeat to the Bees.
Jessica Ricciardi battled for individual honors, her 48 just behind the 46 from B’ville’s Cara Vredenburg and the 47 from Colleen Vredenburg. Natalie Hacker shot a 57, with Gabriella D’Orio posting 58 and Isabella Borte adding a 60.
C-NS Green was overwhelmed last Monday by Fayetteville-Manlius Green in a 201-264 defeat at Green Lakes, where Ashley Evans led the Northstars with a 62. Mackenzie Wessels and Josephine Gabriell both posted 65, but the Hornets swept the top six, led by Lucy Fowler’s 39.
This led to last Wednesday’s match between the two C-NS sides at Northern Pines, with Blue prevailing 211-269 over Green.
Ricciardi and Emilee Solak shared individual honors, each posting 51. DiOrio had a 54, with Borte getting a 55 as, for C-NS Green, Andrea Wheaton shot a 59, Gabriell had a 62 and Mya Ashkar (68) beat out Jeanne Vinette’s 70.
From there, C-NS Blue went on to defeat F-M’s younger White team 192-221 on Friday led again by Ricciardi, who posted a 43. Borte, with a 47, beat out Hacker (48) for the runner-up spot as Solak finished with a 54.
