ONONDAGA COUNTY – Given a full weekend to stew over its first defeat of the season, the Baldwinsville boys lacrosse team made sure it didn’t happen again in the three games that followed.
Cicero-North Syracuse was the first opponent the Bees faced since its last-second, 9-8 loss to Fayetteville-Manlius on May 6, and despite the improvement the Northstars had made another new head coach Nick Gatto, it didn’t get close to B’ville.
In the first of three regular-season encounters last Tuesday at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, B’ville won 17-6, steadily producing goals to amass a 9-4 halftime advantage before doubling that margin in the second half.
Trey Ordway earned team honors thanks to his three goals and two assists as he was one of four Bees players to earn hat tricks.
Luke Hoskin, Mike Marsallo and Colin Socker also scored three times, with Socker adding an assist. Keegan Lynch managed two goals and two assists.
Helping them out, Carson Dyl and Leo Johnson also had two-assist outings as Dyl, Colin Doyle and William Guild earned single goals and Caden Cox gained an assist.
B’ville kept it up on Thursday against Liverpool’, prevailing 17-3 as it bolted out to a 12-2 halftime advantage to augment the 14-4 home victory it had over the Warriors two weeks earlier.
Ryan Hollenbeck, with four goals and one assist, led the way, but Socker was close behind, getting three goals and one assist as Hoskin got two goals and two assists.
Lynch, Doyle and Victor Ianno had matching totals of two goals and one assist. Marsallo, Dyl and Mike Mahar also found the net as Ordway, Guild, Jacob Czyz and Ryan Quinn each got assists.
Then, in Saturday’s game against Marcellus, the Bees moved to 6-1 by putting away the Mustangs 17-4, doing most of the damage in the game’s middle stages where it went on a 12-3 run.
B’ville will have back-to-back meetings with West Genesee late this week after it would get challenged Monday by Christian Brothers Academy at Alibrandi Stadium.
