BALDWINSVILLE – The Baldwinsville softball team was 2-1 going into the week, but gained a big win last Monday when it went to Liverpool and, by a 2-1 margin, got the best of the Warriors.
Taylor Tripodi pitched a superb game for the Bees, holding Liverpool to two hits and overcoming three walks by recording eight strikeouts.
Overcoming a solid effort from Liverpool pitcher Cassie Wiggins, B’ville got two hits from Bella Nadzan, who also scored a run. Jordan Martin picked up an RBI as Kyrah Wilbur scored the Bees’ other run.
But then the Bees were humbled 11-0 by C-NS on Wednesday, who proved again that it was the Class AA team to beat as pitcher Cassidy Ormond held the Bees to five hits, one each by Nadzan, Hadley Michaels, Mattison Phinney, Brooklin Ward and Alyssa Dabacz.
Two more games followed late in the week. At Rome Free Academy on Friday, B’ville unloaded at the plate on the Black Knights to the tune of a 10-run first inning and proceeded to earn a 22-3 victory.
Then B’ville had to deal with undefeated, reigning sectional Class A champion Jamesville-DeWitt on Saturday afternoon, though it was playing at home.
Not once did the Bees get on the board in a 6-0 defeat to the Red Rams, who saw freshman pitcher Keira McMahon limit B’ville to two hits, one each by Martin and Phinney.
Though Bianca DeSellems kept J-D quiet for stretches, the Rams used three-run rallies in the third and fourth innings to go in front as Katie White hit a three-run home run and Katie Dorazio drove in two other runs.
By the time B’ville (4-3) challenges Cicero-North Syracuse this Saturday, it will have already taken on West Genesee and Fayetteville-Manlius this week.
