A week of bad weather mostly kept the Baldwinsville girls tennis team off the court, postponing road matches last Tuesday against Liverpool and Thursday against Fayetteville-Manlius.
However, the rains stopped long enough on Friday for the Bees to take on West Genesee, and helped by a clean sweep in singles, B’ville prevailed 5-2 over the Wildcats.
Brooke Tutor, Eva Smith and Hannah Gould gave the Bees the singles points, each of them in 6-0, 6-0 shutouts – Tutor over Annalyse Kittell, Smith over Sarah Bacon, Gould over Ava Amodio.
Two classics played out in doubles, B’ville unable to hold on in either of them. Audrey Benton and Brooke Tromblee lost 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 to Angelina Llanos and Katie Viau, with Reagan Doan and Ella Tromblee meeting the same fate as they fell to Alyssa Congel and Margaret Mello 3-6, 6-1, 10-4.
However, the Bees made up for it in the other doubles matches, with Ayla Kalfass and Megan Quinn winning over Kayla Latone and Isabelle Wells 6-3, 6-3 as Jessica Bilynsky and Madelyn Krahl got past Angelina Allen and Elianna Cui in a 6-4, 6-3 decision.
