Brimming with confidence in the wake of handling its neighbors from Chittenango 5-1 on Oct. 17, the Cazenovia girls soccer team aimed for more success.
But the Lakers’ schedule was altered as last Tuesday’s game against Fabius-Pompey was postponed until Nov. 2. Cazenovia would return to action this week meeting Manlius-Pebble Hill, Onondaga and LaFayette.
Chittenango did not fret much in the wake of the loss to Cazenovia. Hosting Manlius-Pebble Hill last Tuesday night, the Bears rode a big first half from Emily Moon past the Trojans 3-0.
All of the scoring came in those first 40 minutes, Moon twice putting shots past MPH goalie Mira Fadden-Conrey and assisting on Madison Wagner’s goal.
Meanwhile, Chittenango proved effective on defense, too, limiting the Trojans to five shots, all stopped by Aiyana McDowell.
Improving from this on Thursday night, the Bears turned back LaFayette 5-1 on Thursday to improve its record to 5-1, and Moon remained impossible to contain, this time putting in three goals for a hat trick.
Maryanna Garcia chimed in with one goal and one assist. Morgan Velardi earned her first goal of the season as Jordan Wagner gained an assist.
Four of the Bears’ four remaining games are this week, with a trip to Fabius-Pompey in between visits from Tully, Christian Brothers Academy and Homer.
