All of the area’s top large-school indoor track and field programs were finally together at SRC Arena on Thursday night for the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division championships.
And it was Cicero-North Syracuse winning the boys title with 110 points to Baldwinsville’s second-place 100 as Liverpool took fourth place with 74 points.
Sam Nessel beat the field in the 300-meter dash in 37.85 seconds as Colin Hopkins (38.77) got fourth place. Isaiah Wright, with a long jump of 21 feet 2 1/2 inch, edged Henninger’s Keenan Cannon (21’2″) by half an inch as Carlton Garnes was third with 20’3 1/2″.
Evan Breitbeck was second (1:30.38) and Matt LeClair third (1:31.04) in the 600-meter run as LeClair got fourth place in the 3,200-meter run and Josh Koeppe was sixth. In 3:53.60, the Northstars were third in the 4×400, just ahead of the Warriors (3:57.43) in fourth place.
Matt Wentling-Raymie got fourth place in the shot put, heaving it 38’5 1/2″, and also was fourth in the weight throw with 49’7″. Garnes finished fifth in the triple jump with 38’2 1/4″, one inch ahead of Liverpool’s Michael Nigro in sixth place.
Liverpool had Carter Rodriguez prevail in the 1,000-meter run in 2:40.34 over C-NS teammates R.J. Davis (2:44.23) and Evan Romano (2:44.24), who were nearly in a dead heat for second place, Romano also getting sixth place in the 1,600-meter run as the Northstars were third in the 4×800 relay in 8:47.88.
Jalen Graham won the weight throw with a top attempt of 52’11 1/2″ and Jamie Vong won the pole vault, clearing 11 feet. Ryan Dewan, in 6.93 seconds, beat out C-NS’s Sam Nessel (6.95) for second place in the 55-meter dash, where Amaru Lewis was sixth. Vong also was sixth in the shot put.
Ryan Cartwright took third place in the 1,600 in 4:37.44 and Jake McGowan was fifth as Ryan Hagan finished fifth in the 3,200 and the Warriors were third in the 4×200 in 1:37.72 and fourth in the 4×800. Bennett Robb cleared 6 feet for third place in the high jump as teammate Owen Jarosz was fifth.
On the girls side, the Northstars had 104 points and the Warriors 103 points, but both trailed the 161 put up by Fayetteville-Manlius despite some superb individual performances from the two sides behind the Hornets.
Liverpool had Imahni Sinclair unleash a weight throw of 48’9 1/2″ and also win the shot put by going 34’11 3/4″ ahead of the 29 feet from C-NS’s Stephanie Webb in second place as Faith Keville was fourth for the Northstars and Webb was third in the weight throw with 30’6″.
On the track, the Warriors’ Jenna Schulz won the 600 in 1:39.09 over F-M’s Phoebe White (1:39.35) as C-NS had Hannah Boyle take third in 1:39.38 to go with her third in the 300 in 43.82 seconds.
Kali Hayes roared to a time of 8.73 in the 55 hurdles, more than half a second ahead of the Hornets’ Natalee Barber (9.25). Amina Sinclair was second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet as Alexia Ostrander was fifth.
Riley Norris took second in the 55-meter dash in 7.62 seconds to the 7.48 from Baldwinsville’s Lauren Addario. Schulz, Anne Gullo, Sophia Jarosz and Eva Woodworth took second in the 4×400 in 4:15.80, with C-NS fourth. Gullo finished fourth in the 300 and Woodworth sixth in the 600.
Sophia Recuparo, clearing 7’6″, got second place in the pole vault. Sydney Carlson was third in the 3,000-meter run in 10:46.54 ahead of teammate Kara Nash in fifth place as C-NS had Allison Newton fourth and Hannah Reichard sixth. Kaleigh Buck finished fifth in the 1,000 and the Warriors were fourth in the 4×200.
On C-NS’s side, Kate Putman went 3:06.76 to prevail in the 1,000 as Morgan Kingdeski was third in 3:11.76. Putman also had a second-place time of 4:44.91 in the 1,500-meter run as Marissa Doty was fourth and Liverpool’s Rosie Petrella fifth.
Putman, Kingdeski, Newton and Reichard were second in the 4×800 in 10:04.27, ahead of Liverpool (10:11.75) in third place. Sierra Davis rose to second in the triple jump with 35’6″, just behind the 36-foot win by F-M’s Isabel Zuber.
Julianna Hutt rose to second place in the long jump, going 16’8 3/4″, and was sixth in the 55 sprint. Madelyn Wheeler topped 4’8″ for third place in the high jump as McKenna Johnston tied for fourth in the pole vault, Savannah Kuhr was sixth in the 55 hurdles and McKenna Slate got sixth in the 300.
