In its lone meet last week, the Lakers faced Hannibal last Wednesday and did not win any of the first nine bouts on the card as it lost to the Warriors 52-24.
During that early Hannibal run, only Matt Knutsen, who wrestled at 120 pounds, got close to a Cazenovia win, dropping a 5-4 decision to Dominic Greenwood.
It took Jake Tobin pinning Drew Butterfield at 170 pounds to break up the shutout, with Patrick Livingston (195 pounds) pinning Ethan Thibault and John Frega (220 pounds) pinning Ian Arnold.
Kevin Valentine earned a forfeit at 182 pounds, with Carter Polhamus tough in his 285-pound bout against Santana Salvador before taking a 5-2 defeat.
As for Chittenango, who will also take part in the OHSL Liberty/Patriot meet, it got just one mat win out of last Wednesday’s 78-6 defeat to Mexico.
It was Peyton Denney, at 106 pounds, breaking up the Tigers’ shutout when he pinned Ryan Gates late in the first period, Otherwise, Mexico covered the board with seven pins and seven forfeits.
