After a 2-2 start to its season, the Baldwinsville girls bowling team put things together and established itself as a top Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division title contender.
A key to the Bees’ rise was last Tuesday’s match at Strike-N-Spare Lanes against Cicero-North Syracuse, where Madison Hass led the way in a 3-0 shutout of the Northstars, the team’s third win in a row.
Hass shot a 212 first game, continued with a 171 and then closed strong with a 225 for a 608 series, the best individual total of the match.
Helping out, Jenna Spiech had a 211 game in her 543 series as Jenna Hierholzer got a 513 series and Jessica Spiech managed a 493 set. C-NS got a 519 series from Jessaia McGriff and a 513 series from Katie Cloonan.
A close boys match between B’ville and C-NS went 2-1 in the Northstars’ favor, with strong scores on both ends, though no one could top the 734 series from C-NS standout Tyler Dottolo.
Tanner Rozyczko led the Bees with a 253 game in the middle of his 657 series. Dylan Williams posted a 614 series (218 high game) as Dylan Love contributed a 608 set. Dawson Bigtree earned a 574 series and Eric Hildreth got a 562 set.
Back at B’ville Sports Bowl on Thursday afternoon, the Bees took on Fayetteville-Manlius, and Hass continued to roll well during the girls 3-0 sweep of the Hornets.
In her second game, Hass shot a season-best 257, with a 204 and 185 rounding out a 646 series. The Spiech sisters had 506 and 496 series, with games of 214 and 212 within as Hierholzer shot a 189 during her 489 set.
B’ville’s boys also won 3-0 over F-M, Rozyczko shooting 224, 248 and 223 in his 695 series supported by a 611 series from Love that started with a 227. Williams was steady earning a three-game total of 605.
A 3-0 shutout of Syracuse City followed on Friday, this time with the Spiech sisters in charge as one had a 611 series sparked by a 240 opening game and the other had a pair of 213 games in her 594 set.
It was a five-point match on the boys side, and B’ville claimed all of them to improve to 4-4 overall. Rozyczko shot 238, 236 and 215 in his 689 set, just ahead of Williams, who put up a 253 second game in a 667 series as Hildreth had a 237 game and Zach Evans a 217 game.
A showdown between B’ville and Liverpool on Tuesday highlights three straight home matches for the Bees this week, with Cortland and West Genesee to follow.
