For the second meet in a row, the Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool indoor track and field teams competed together, this time as part of the morning session in Saturday’s John Arcaro Memorial Invitational.
And it was a battle at the top in the girls event, with the Northstars finishing on top, 109 points to the Warriors’ 105.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Liverpool’s Kali Hayes was first in exactly nine seconds, but was second with Natalie Venesky on the team side behind C-NS’s Brooke Blaisdell and Savannah Kuhr, who posted 18.54 seconds.
Blaisdell also had a winning long jump of 16 feet 1 1/2 inches and, paired with Sierra Davis, got a team victory in the triple jump with 66’7 1/2″, just ahead of B’ville’s 66’5 1/4″.
It turned around in the 4×400 relay, with the Warriors’ Anne Gullo, Jenna Schulz, Sydney Carlson and Eva Woodworth going 4:19.15 to edge C-NS’s McKenna Johnston, McKenna Slate, Shannon Brown and Hannah Boyle, second in 4:19.40. Gullo, Riley Norris, Sophia Jarosz and Tahje McDonald then won the 4×200 relay in 1:51.32, with the Northstars (1:56.86) in third place.
In the 1,500-meter run, Morgan Kingdeski and Marissa Doty helped C-NS win in 10:43.75 as Liverpool was fourth in 11:14.43. Kate Putman and Allison Newton finished second in the 600-meter run in 6:14.36, with Schulz and Gabby McCarthy third for the Warriors.
Hannah Reichard and Erin Slusser went 24:32.73 to finish first in the 3,000-meter run. Doty, Kingdeski, Allison Newton and Peyton Empey were second in the 4×800 relay in 10:52.14, with Liverpool fifth.
Liverpool had Imahni Sinclair unleash a weight throw of 44’6 1/2″ and a shot put of 33’10 1/2″ to win both events, pairing with Mackenzie Eason to win the team shot put (54′ 1/2″) ahead of C-NS in fourth place and going 65’9 1/2″ to prevail in the weight throw, too.
Amina Sinclair, by clearing 5’5″ in the high jump, got that title, taking team honors with Alexis Ostrander (9’11”) over Lilly Capria and Lexi Gaetz, who were second for C-NS with 9’6″. Amelia Loop and Sophia Recuparo prevailed in the pole vault, combining to clear 14’6″.
Woodworth and Sophia Jarosz went 1:30.82 in the 300-meter dash, getting second place as Jarosz and Riley Norris got second place in the 55-meter dash in 15.65 seconds.
Meanwhile, the C-NS boys only had 74 points and finished third in its portion of the Arcaro met as Liverpool topped them with 81 points, but both trailed Baldwinsville’s winning 109 points.
Earning a win for the Warriors, Bennett Robb and Owen Jarosz cleared 11’3″ between them in the high jump, ahead of C-NS’s Jack Tschopp and Justin Rhoden, who topped 10’11”. Jamie Vong had a winning pole vault of 11 feet, good for second-place points.
Charlie Praschunus, Ethan Glashauser, Carter Rodriguez and Jake McGowan were second in the 4×800 in 8:44.60 ahead of C-NS (8:56.35) in fourth place. Rodriguez and Ryan Fennelly finished third in the 600 in 3:08.48, edging C-NS (3:09.37) in fourth place.
Kevin Harge and Dominick Scro got to second place in the 300-meter dash in 1:19.47. Jon Howland and Jack Sherlock were third in the 3,200, with Scro and Ryan Dewan third in the 55 sprint, with Liverpool fifth in the 4×400. Jalen Graham and Liam O’Neil were fourth in the weight throw, with O’Neil and Jamie Vong fourth in the shot put.
Isaiah Wright went 8.06 seconds to beat the field in the 55 hurdles and took the team event with Carlton Garnes in 16.41 seconds. Josh Koeppe and R.J. Davis were victorious in the 3,200-meter run in 20:42.90 as Jack Tschopp and Trevon Walker took the triple jump, going 73’4 1/4″ between them.
Wright, Garnes, Colin Hopkins and Josh Adams got second place in the 4×200 in 1:37.14, with Liverpool (1:43.13) fourth. Zach Bergman and Owen Greco got third place in the 1,600-meter run in 9:57.71 as Garnes had a second-place long jump of 19’2 3/4″.
