For its next indoor track and field meet at SRC Arena last Saturday, Baldwinsville would take part in the afternoon session of the Oscar B. Jensen Holiday Relays.
And having swept its sessions at the Jack Morse Kickoff Meet a week earlier, the Bees once again found plenty of success
In the boys meet, B’ville went 1-2 in the 600-meter run, Connor Waldron prevailing in one minute, 28.93 seconds as Owen Weaver finished second in 1:32 flat.
It was the same in the high jump, Ryan Dupra winning with a clearance of 5 feet 10 inches and Weaver second by topping 5’8”. Weaver again was a runner-up in the triple jump, his 41’5 1/2” only trailing the 42’11 3/4” from East Syracuse Minoa’s Rocky El.
Taking team honors in the 3,200-meter run, the Bees had Jack Michaels get second place on the individual side in 9:43.26 behind Skaneateles’ state Class C cross country champion, Caleb Bender (9:43.25), with Colin Delaney third in 9:50.32.
Dylan Wertheim was second in the pole vault, clearing 9’6”. Sam Mellinger, in 6.79 seconds, trailed only Institute of Technology Central’s Shameik Williams (6.59) in the 55-meter dash. Robert Thompson went 18’6 1/2” in the long jump to finish third.
Alex Boak and Steven Miller teamed to win the weight throw, Boak heaving it 45’2” for second place among individuals and Miller fourth with 41’6 1/4”.
Adam Graham, with a throw of 38’5”, beat out Steven Miller (38’1”) for third place in the shot put. David Mahar took sixth in the 300-meter dash in 39.96 seconds. James Carey went 4:57.92 for sixth place in the mile, with Solomon Holden-Betts in ninth place in 5:08.38.
Tom Hagopian was eighth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:00.25 as Dupra got eighth in the 55 hurdles in 8.96 seconds and Tom Bernardin finished 10th.
In the girls Jensen Relays, B’ville’s Lauren Addario and Karen Ekure paired to win the 55 sprint, their times of 15.13 seconds third and fourth, respectively, on the individual side.
Allyson Surowick (15’3”) and Hannah Johnson (14’8”) won the long jump, their leaps adding up to 29’11”, while Addario had a winning triple jump of 37’9” as Ella Smith had a winning pole vault of 8 feet.
B’ville also earned three of the top four spots in the weight throw, Sara Smiley beating the field thanks to her toss of 32′ 3/4” as Lauren Shaler was third with 30’9 1/2” and Kathryn Mitts was fourth with 30’2”.
Surowick rose to third place in the 55 hurdles in 9.70 seconds, with Ekure fifth in the high jump by clearing 4’10” as Madison Passante topped 4’3”.
Vivian Holden-Betts ran the mile in 5:56.35, finishing third as Sarah Fawwaz was sixth and Lily Horan eighth, while Sage Springstreen was fourth in the 3,000 in 12:34.84, ahead of Annabelle Horan (sixth) and Carsyn Cronin (eighth).
Carlie Desimone was third in the 300 in 48.06 seconds. Johnson ran the 1,000 in 3:32.40, two spots ahead of Bailey Nicholson (3:36.41) as Madison Kennedy took sixth in the 600 in 1:55.95 and Kathryn Nice was eighth.
