Another season for the Solvay girls bowling team ended with Caitlin McCann finishing among the top 20 individuals during Sunday’s Section III championships at Flamingo Bowl in Liverpool.
McCann began the session with a 180, her best game of the morning, and followed with a 174 and 160. Then, in the afternoon, McCann rolled 145 and 259 before finishing with her high score of the day, a 203.
The total pinfall of 1,021 put McCann in 17th place among the 160 individuals that took part. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Mackenzie O’Herien was the individual champion with a 1,320 pinfall and a high game of 253.
As a team, Solvay finished sixth among Division II (small schools) with 4,195, which put them in seventh place in Class B, Camden (4,905) edging VVS (4,866) to advance to next month’s state tournament at Strike-N-Spare Lanes.
Of the six games, the Bearcats did best in the third game with 756 as Abby Lee had a six-game total of 929 to finish 43rd overall. Maria Hook finished with a 736 as Kiyyasia Elien shot 686 over five games. Rebecca Ducey bowled four games of 477 as Anna Luckette had 346 over three games.
Boys bowlers have their sectional tournament this Sunday at Pin-O-Rama in Utica.
