Not until the seventh bout at 145 did F-M get points, Justin Bedell defeating Devin Southworth 10-1 before Ben Christopher (152) lost a close 8-5 decision to Anthony Desimone.
At 160 pounds, Alex Dauksza picked up F-M’s lone pin, taking 2:33 to earn a fall over Alex Nobles before Sawyer Dereszynski (170) claimed a 4-3 win over Robert Salvett. C-NS gained seven pins, including 126 pounds, where the Hornets’ Braden Florczyk, 18-5 going into the bout, lost to Nate Osborne, who has a 28-4 mark this winter.
F-M then went to the Cazenovia Invitational on Saturday, where it earned 78.5 points to get ninth place in a 19-team field, led by Charlie Josephson, who won at 220.
Josephson pinned Elmira’s John Robczyk in the last seconds of the semifinal, leading to a title bout against Robczyk’s teammate, Isaiah Colon, that also ended with Josephson taking a third-period fall.
Christopher was fourth at 152, dropping the consolation bracket final 4-0 to Indian River’s Gabe Lynch. Florczyk was fifth at 120 as Dauksza (160) and Zack Henderson (285) both got sixth-place finishes.
