Competition in boys bowling atop the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division remains fairly close, but with a consistent lineup Liverpool has remained at the front of the standings, with Cicero-North Syracuse chasing them.
The two rivals were set to meet again last Thursday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes, a rematch of the Dec. 11 match at Flamingo Bowl that the Northstars claimed 2-1 over the Warriors.
In this version, the girls match again went 2-1 in C-NS’s favor, the Northstars’ depth the difference as Mikayla Drozdz led her side with a 543 series and 208 high game, with Trinity Drozdz adding a 542 series and 192 high game.
Helping them out, Jessaia McGriff had a 193 game in her 532 set as Elianna Pitts shot a 523 series and 190 game. Katie Cloonan chimed in with a three-game total of 478.
Liverpool could not quite match all that depth, even though Dominique Cimini shot a 227 game on her way to a 478 series and Ashley Hardy led with a 534 series. Makenzi Ormsby’s 493 series included a 185 game as Riley Warren had a 494 series and Mackenzie Gill contribute a 481 set.
The C-NS boys beat Liverpool, too, with Tim Cloonan shooting a 264 during his 699 series as Kyle Patterson got a 678 series (239 high game) and J.J. O’Connell had a 227 game.
Staying close, the Warriors had Zak Ormsby and Deacon Roberson both shoot high games of 256, with Roberson shooting a 687 series and Ormsby a 673 series as Brandon Davis had a 234 in his 587 set.
In the lead-up to this match, both sides earned victories, with Liverpool sweeping West Genesee 3-0 at Flamingo last Tuesday as C-NS handled Syracuse by that same score at Strike-N-Spare.
For the Northstars, O’Connell led the way with a 683 series and high game of 247. Tyler Dottolo’s consistent 664 series included no game better than 233 as Tim Cloonan got a 601 series. Josh Williams paced Syracuse with a three-game total of 563.
When the C-NS girls defeated Syracuse 3-0, Elianna Pitts put up a 530 series, with a 190 high game. McGriff’s 200 game was part of a 456 series as Trinity Drozdz shot a 199 game during her 394 set.
Liverpool then had a match Wednesday against Central Square, prevailing 3-0 over the Redhawks on the boys side as Zak Ormsby nearly got to perfection.
Zak Ormsby’s 10 strikes resulted in a 277 game during a 693 series as Davis shot a 240 in his 601 set. The girls Warriors also won 3-0 over Central Square, receiving a big effort from Warren, who posted a 220 game and finished with a 570 series.
