After hosting its own Fall Swing Tournament on Sept. 29, the Baldwinsville girls volleyball team went back to the usual business of running over any area Class AA opponent in its path.
The Bees faced Liverpool last Wednesday night after both had seen action during that tournament. Each of the first two sets went 25-15 in B’ville’s favor, with a 25-16 decision in the third set closing out yet another Bees sweep.
Between her 20 kills and 11 digs, Rileigh Kimball put away points and saved them, too, with lots of help from Summer McClintic, who in the three sets amassed 31 assists, adding seven digs.
Katie Welcher not only had nine kills, she served up four aces and got five digs, matching Sophia Cali, who managed three aces of her own. Maddy Shuler had four kills as Carly May got three kills and three digs. Brooke Clute added five digs as Sophia Kordas had three kills, three digs and two aces.
During Friday’s 25-8, 25-13, 25-13 sweep of Nottingham, B’ville had Jenna Garvey anchor the back line and she responded with 20 assists and five aces.
Kimball and Maddy Shuler each got three aces as Shuler joined Megan Brecht in earning six kills. Welcher added four kills, with Clue and Jenna Wallace each picking up three digs.
In boys volleyball, Baldwinsville met Jamesville-DeWitt last Tuesday and, after dominating the first set 25-8, saw the Red Rams rebound to take the second set 25-20.
Turning it around, the Bees won its own 25-20 decision in the third set and closed it out 25-16 in the fourth, with Thomas Higman earning 33 assists to go with two kills and two blocks.
Luc Jerome put together 13 kills, three aces, four digs, two blocks and two assists. David Cornell had nine kills, five aces and three digs, with Connor Garvey getting five kills and Aidan Priest four kills, plus three aces. Bradford Doubleday had six digs and two aces.
In Thursday night’s match against Central Square, B’ville won the first set 25-12 and kept on going from there, handling the Redhawks 25-14 in each of the ensuing pair of sets.
Priest led with nine kills, though it was Cornell getting six aces as he matched Garvey’s total of seven kills, Garvey adding three aces. Jerome gained six kills as Higman passed it to all of them, earning 23 assists.
The B’ville boys now faced its toughest 48-hour stretch of the season as it looked to avenge both of its regular-season defeats when it took on Fayetteville-Manlius Tuesday and hosts Cicero-North Syracuse Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the girls Bees have back-to-back matches with West Genesee and Cicero-North Syracuse this week.
