Many important league matches marked the Baldwinsville girls golf team’s passage through last week, and it tried to keep up with top Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division foes.
The Bees nearly upended 6-1 Cicero-North Syracuse Blue last Monday at Timber Banks, but saw that bid fall just short in a 201-203 defeat to the Northstars.
Emma Brushingham shot a 48 for nine holes, two behind C-NS Blue’s Amy Krohl (46). Colleen Vredenburg and Margaret Dec both shot 51, with the Northstars’ Morgan Siechen (50) just ahead of them.
Then undefeated Fayetteville-Manlius showed up at Timber Banks Wednesday, with B’ville taking a 174-218 defeat to the Hornets. Vredenburg shot a 48, trailing F-M’s top individual, Lucy Fowler, who finished with a 41.
Turning it around on Thursday, B’ville held off Oswego 205-210, with Vredenburg again leading her side, putting together a 50 at Oswego Country Club, two shots ahead of the Buccaneers’ low round of 52 by Catherine Volkomer.
This pushed the Bees back to the .500 mark (5-5) overall, with three matches left in the regular season this week against the likes of East Syracuse Minoa Orange, C-NS Green and Auburn.
