Though each of the Chittenango track and field teams had their meet against Christian Brothers Academy postponed last Wednesday, the girls side did get in some competition by week’s end.
It came in the form of the Tully Invitational, moved from Friday to Saturday to allow snows to melt. And the sun was out by the time the races got underway.
The Bears fared best in the 1,500-meter run, where McKenzie Dombroski and Chelsea Lamphere pulled off a 1-2 finish. Dombroski prevailed in five minutes, 12.1 seconds, pulling away from Lamphere, who got second place in 5:21.6.
In the distance medley relay, Chittenango’s quartet of McKayla Capeling, Kiara Waite, Emily Moon and Piper Beckwith took second place in 14:03.84. Dombroski also was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:48.03, with Capeling fifth in 11:55.19.
Mia Morgillo went 19.18 seconds to finish fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and helped Aaliyah Emad, Kiara Waite and Alivia Narolis get third place in the sprint medley relay in 5:05.98.Lamphere took fourth place in the 400-meter dash in 1:12.57 as Beckwith got fifth place (2:41.25) in the 800-meter run.
Emad cleared 4 feet 6 inches in the high jump to take third place. Tamia Williams was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 14.30 seconds. Morgillo was eighth and Moon ninth in the long jump, with Allyson Woodruff ninth in the discus.
Cazenovia had its meet with Solvay postponed, and will make that up April 30 as part of a three-team meet that also includes Marcellus.
