Jessica Birdslow’s numbers continue to improve as the Solvay girls bowling team continues to sweep past all of its Onondaga High School League opponents.
During the Bearcats’ 7-0 shutout of Chittenango last Wednesday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes that improved the team’s record to 9-0, Birdslow shot a three-game total of 601, highlighted by a 222 high game.
To help out, Anastasia LaFlair had a 424 series, with Abby Lee contributing a 403 series and Rebecca Ducey getting a 382 set. For the Bears, Abbie Austin had a 403 series, just ahead of Coralee Everett’s 394 set.
The Solvay boys bowling team also toppled Chittenango 7-0, with Denis Mujcic at the forefront for the Bearcats as his 233 game led to a 596 series.Trent McLaughlin had a 222 game during his 568 set, while Zach Mashaw had a three-game total of 482.
Solvay’s girls followed up Thursday with another 7-0 shutout, this one over Christian Brothers Academy, to make it 10 wins in a row. Birdslow finished with a 495 series and high game of 175, well clear of the Brothers’ best 413 set from Anna Ziemba.
Meanwhile, the boys Bearcats took a 5-2 defeat to CBA, though Mashaw improved to a 543 series thanks to a 228 high game. McLaughlin and Gardner each shot games of 214, McLaughlin earning a 524 series and Gardner a 508 series as the Brothers’ Vincent Carno broke out for a 257 game on his way to a 601 series.
Each of the West Genesee bowling teams hosted Liverpool last Tuesday at Solvay Recreation Alleys, with the girls Wildcats picking up a point, yet still falling 2-1 to the Warriors.
Gina Neri had a 452 series to pace WG as Emily Shields managed a three-game total of 415. Katie Drogo had a 407 series as Liverpool saw Ashley Hardy gain a 607 series and Dailyn McCarthy contribute a 539 set.
The boys Wildcats lost, 3-0, to Liverpool, but looked to recover in Thursday’s home match against Fayetteville-Manlius, but unable to do so as the Hornets prevailed 2-1.
Conroy nearly got to perfection during a 279 game, yet only managed a 585 series. Conor Matthewson (522 series) and Noah Ackerman (515 series) offered support, as did Jon Zollo (469 series) and Richard Wituszynski (462 series). F-M got a 639 series and 253 high game from John Buonfiglio as Adam Koss added a 528 set.
WG’s girls team also had a 2-1 defeat to F-M, with Gabrielle Gardner getting a 455 series to lead the Wildcats. Drogo improved her three-game total to 426 as Shields had a 410 set. The Hornets got a 426 series from Shelby Minor and a 422 series from Julianna Buonfiglio.
This busy week for the Wildcats concluded Friday with twin 3-0 defeats to Cicero-North Syracuse at Strike-N-Spare. Conroy shot a 184 game and Zollo a 179 game as Robert Bidwell got a 170 game in a boys match where the Northstars’ Tim Cloonan posted a 682 series.
Neri bowled quite well in the girls match for WG, her 211 game leading to a 540 series as Drogo had a 436 series ahead of Shields (413 series) and Maddy Lux (400 series). Carly Lescenski led C-NS with a 560 series.
