All through December, the Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse bowling teams have put away quality opposition on their way to the top of the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division standings.
Another week of undefeated play culminated last Friday when C-NS met Central Square at Strike-N-Spare Lanes and the Northstars’ Zach Emm rolled a perfect game in his team’s 3-0 shutout of the Redhawks.
The 12-strike 300 games Emm put together was part of a 719 series as Nick Bough shot a 266 game during his 629 set. Tim Cloonan added a 617 series (225 high game) as J.J. O’Connell had a 216 game and Landon Spingler a 206 game.
A day earlier at Flamingo Bowl, Liverpool swept traditional power Fulton as C-NS went to Oswego and did the same to the Buccaneers.
The boys match between Liverpool and Fulton was a tight one, but the Warriors edged the Red Raiders 2-1 with four players shooting series of 613 or better.
Devin Roberson led with a 670 series and 245 high game, while Deacon Roberson’s 229 game was part of a 666 set. Zak Ormsby was close behind, with a 642 series, while Brandon Davis put up that 613 set.
Those totals were needed because Fulton’s Bradley Martin led all individuals with a 706 series, including a 247 high game. Jason Southworth (643 series, 244 high game) and Joe Benevidez (625 series, 220 high game) also bowled well for the Red Raiders.
Moving to the girls match, Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Fulton included several strong individual efforts, including that of Ashley Hardy, whose steady 605 series included a 223 high game.
Danielle Maher used a 215 game to propel her to a 548 series as Riley Warren got a 541 series (193 high game) and Dailyn McCarthy’s 524 series included a 201 game. All of it negated the 616 series (237 high game) from Fulton’s Megan Guernsey and a 595 series from Guernsey’s teammate, Lexi Ingersoll.
Meanwhile, at Lighthouse Lanes, it was C-NS looking quite strong as it took down Oswego, the 3-0 girls victory the team’s fifth in a row and the boys prevailing by that same margin to reach that same 5-0 mark.
Then C-NS faced Central Square Friday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes and swept both of those matches by 3-0 margins. All of this set up the first head-to-head match between C-NS and Liverpool on Tuesday at Flamingo Bowl, where first place in the SCAC Metro would be on the line.
