Another perfect season for the Fayetteville-Manlius girls swim team ended with another Section III Class A championship banner to bring home.
The Hornets steadily pulled away from the eight teams in th sectional Class A field Friday at Nottingham High School, earning 470.5 points to beat Liverpool, who was second with 377 points.
Throughout the meet, F-M accumulated top finishes, but saved its best for the last two relays of the meet. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Cara Campell, Sasha Brown, Michelle Sipple and Hannah Kellogg finished in one minute, 41.72 seconds to beat out Auburn (1:42.60) for the top spot.
Then, in the closing 400-yard freestyle relay, Campell, Brown, Kellogg and Lindsay Mathews posted three minutes, 46.87 seconds to beat out Liverpool (3:48.23) and win that race.
F-M went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly, where Addie Antshel won in 1:02.05 and Kellogg claimed second place in 1:03.32. Campell, in 55.54 seconds, was second to Auburn’s Kennedy Wilson (55.49) in the 100 freestyle as Brown got fifth place in 57.32 seconds.
In the 200 individual medley, Mathews was third in 2:15.43, with Antshel fourth (2:18.19) and Katie Ottaviano fifth (2:22.03) as the Hornets gained 45 points from those three efforts. Mathews took third place in the 500 freestyle in 5:24.05
Mathews had helped Addie Antshel, Michelle Sipple and Morgan Kingsley finish fourth in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.86. Kingsley was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.90, while Ottaviano was fourth in 1:11.28 and Meghan Seidberg ninth as Kingsley got fifth place in the 50 freestyle in 26.50 points, where Brown tied for seventh.
Kellogg took sixth place in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.05. Mairead Egan was fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.26, with Jesse Eisenhut eighth and Saya Hrosar ninth.
A day earlier, in the sectional diving championships, Riley Miller, who had already qualified for the Nov. 17-18 state meet at Ithaca College, finished third with 379.35 points. Francesca Femia got fourth place with 350.75 points as Alessandra Manicone was seventh and Noelle Anthis took 11th place.
