Without having to go through a full slate of matches, the Skaneateles girls tennis team moved to 8-2 on the season last Wednesday afternoon, prevailing 7-0 over the Pulaski Blue Devils.
Erica Byrne went through the closest of the three singles matches for the Lakers, but still defeated Jennifer Lapp 6-1, 6-4. Each of the other singles matches was won in straight sets, too, as Mary McNeil topped Cerenity Geer 6-3, 6-1 and Alex Ditch had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Andrea Geer.
Of the two doubles matches Pulaski did contest, neither lasted too long. Angela Krause and Rachel Feeney won, 6-0, 6-1, over Sara Goodsell and Amy Mathews, with Hope Allyn and Lily Datz gaining a 6-1, 6-0 win over Casey Lyne and K iara Sperling.
Two days later, the Lakers were handed a doubles point from Jordan-Elbridge due to another forfeit, but it won the rest of them in straight sets anyway and earned another shutout, dousing the Eagles 7-0.
Far more stress was found in singles, where Ditch had a long second set, but still beat Toni Malvaso 6-2, 7-5. Byrne got a 6-2, 6-3 win over Miranda Malvaso as McNeil won, too, handling Amelia Younis 6-1, 6-2.
Datz and Allyn claimed their doubles match in two sets, as did Krause and Feeney, with Isabella Kroon and Hope Glowacki earning their own doubles point as Skaneateles, improving to 9-2 on the season, only have two regular-season matches left, against Bishop Grimes and Manlius-Pebble Hill.
