Still neck-and-neck with Baldwinsville atop the CNY Counties League, the Fayetteville-Manlius boys golf team won its only match last week, venturing to Liverpool and again relying on its depth to put away the Warriors 191-214.
Over nine holes at Liverpool Country Club, Adam Butch shot a 36, and needed that effort to beat out Tim Zapisek’s total of 37. Kyle Gilroy added a 38 and John Cacchio had a 39 to match the low Liverpool round by Tyler Leatherwood. Nick Perry shot a 41, the same as the Warriors’ Spencer Baum.
To start its schedule last week, Jamesville-DeWitt put together an impressive performance against Central Square at Drumlins, roaring to a 202-235 win over the Redhawks. Mac Mott shot a 38, the lone sub-40 total, while Will Havens had a 40 and Abel Ratanaphan a 41, the same as Central Square’s top performer, Larry Romano.
Another win followed on Wednesday afternoon, the Red Rams beating Tully 211-226 at Orchard Valley, pushed there by Ratanaphan shooting a 36 and Logan Latray adding a 37, beating out the Black Knights’ Wyatt Brown (38) and Alex Crysler (39). Havens and Jack Mulvihill both posted 46 as Eric Antosh contributed a 48.
When Christian Brothers Academy went on the road last Wednesday, it fell well short in a 217-247 defeat to Oswego. Steve Fournier shot 43 and Mike Santoro added a 47 at Oswego Country Club, but the Buccaneers had the low two individual rounds, getting a 39 from Joe Kelly and a 42 from Bryce Hourigan.
Two days later, facing Westhill at Drumlins, the Brothers lost a close 216-219 decision to the Warriors, and this happened despite Fournier shooting a 37, the only sub-40 total of the day.
Westhill’s Anthony Maglisco landed on a 40, but he, along with teammates Sean Dadey (41) and Josh Marshall (42), beat out the 43 posted by CBA’s Jack Lester and the 44 shot by David Gross. Even with Brent Savage shooting 47 and Guy Germain getting a 48, Westhill won because David Bleskoski (45) and Tim Alcaro (48) combined to beat those numbers.
East Syracuse Minoa had both of its teams take on Cortland last Monday at Willowbrook Country Club. ESM Blue shot 211 to beat the Purple Tigers’ total of 219 as ESM Orange finished at 247.
