Cazenovia police investigate two break-in robberies in village

Cazenovia police officers are currently investigating two separate incidents of break-ins and burglaries that occurred in the village last week. According to police, sometime during the late night/early morning hours of Sept. 13-14, one or more persons broke into the Cazenovia Apartments at 24 Nelson St. and allegedly stole a “couple hundred dollars” in quarters from the laundry room.

In the second incident, a Cazenovia police officer was doing a routine patrol during the early morning hours of Sept. 15 when he noticed a missing plywood window covering at Cazenovia Sports Bowl, which is currently undergoing renovations. A subsequent investigation uncovered a “couple of thousand dollars” in cash allegedly stolen from the business, according to police.

Police Chief Michael Hayes said both incidents are still under investigation. He encourages any residents with information concerning ongoing investigations or other crime tips to call the Cazenovia Police Department at 655-3276. Leave a message if an officer does not answer the phone. All calls and tips will remain confidential.
