VILLAGE OF BALDWINSVILLE – After a week or more of dreary rainy days, the sun came out just in time to herald the arrival of spring and the first Trunk ‘n Treasures Sale on Saturday, May 6, at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse Museum.
Sellers from around the Central New York area were on hand displaying their items on the park lawn. A variety of unique treasures and crafts and many great deals were available including antiques, books, vintage purses and jewelry, pottery, vintage stamps, vintage toys, hand-made birdhouses, glassware, tools, gently used puzzles, a variety of hand-made quilts, items sewn by a local artisan and yard sale items.
The museum sponsored a baked goods table and a “vintage” T-shirt sale as well. Two baskets were raffled off. The happy winners were Heidi Knapp (coffee-themed basket) and Mary DeLawyer (tea for two basket.)
The museum gift shop celebrated their re-opening that weekend as well. Many items including local-themed puzzles, Baldwinsville-themed items and a variety of unique one-of-a-kind gifts are on the shelves. The gift shop is open Fridays – Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
The Museum Board continues to discuss and plan for future events and projects, always with a continuing focus on local history information and themes.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, the museum will bring back the annual Peony Fest, after a long hiatus due to covid and other issues.
The event will feature local artisans showcasing their work as well as a Peony Flower Show. Gardeners everywhere are encouraged to bring a peony bloom from their gardens. Everyone who attends the fest event will have the opportunity to view and vote for their favorite. Entries are encouraged to have their blooms at the museum by 9:30 a.m. on the morning of the event so that it can be set up on the display for voters.
Also mark your calendars for another Trunk ‘n Treasure Sale event at the museum on Saturday, Aug. 26.
