To the editor:
I read about the new development project proposed in the village of Manlius and while this multi-use project sounds like a nice addition to our village, I have some concerns. One, the size of the project sounds unnecessarily big: three times the size of Madison Row which already seems to be having trouble filling their multi-use space. If this project moves forward I would hope the developers will have businesses under contract for the spaces they are building versus building more empty retail space in Manlius.
Second, why does it need to be luxury apartments? Why can’t we open our community to everyone and build affordable apartments. There is a long wait list for accessible housing in our community. Let’s include needed accessible apartments in this development.
Let’s build a more inclusive Manlius, plan smart development and not build the same empty buildings found all over Central New York.
