CICERO — The Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) will host a virtual program with author and counselor Margaret Marie, a rehabilitation counselor specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation. NOPL is hosting this program as a Zoom meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13. Although this is a group setting, cameras and name tags are optional.
Marie is returning to NOPL after the publication of her autobiography, “The Girl Without Shoes,” where she presented about overcoming abuse by empowering individuals to persevere.
“If we encounter the pain and hardships of abuse, it is important to resist negativity; we must grieve and forgive and rise above to restore health and goodness in life,” Marie writes in “The Girl Without Shoes.”
Marie has a master’s in science and years of training in trauma recovery. She has written three books on stress and trauma, coping, and setting goals for positive change. Her NOPL program will focus on her book “Choose Well: The Choices You Make Will Affect Your Destiny.”
In Marie’s new book, she talks about the thoughts that individuals have that can affect daily life.
These thoughts, whether positive or negative, can affect our attitude, influencing our choices and destiny. Marie’s method is faith-based, and she looks to assist people in rethinking and redeveloping new patterns of thought that may lead to a more peaceful and prosperous life.
