While the Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) is currently closed amid the coronavirus outbreak, we offer a variety of virtual resources that can be accessed at home with your library card and PIN:
eBooks and Audiobooks
Collectively, over 130,000 ebook, audiobook, and comic book titles are available for NOPL cardholders to borrow through OverDrive and Hoopla; digital magazines are available to patrons through both of these platforms as well. RomanceBookCloud offers unlimited and unrestricted access to that genre. In addition, teens can access TeenBookCloud for a selection of graphic novels, YA books, and classic literature.
TV, Movies and Music
Over 25,000 movies, TV shows, and music albums are available in Hoopla. Another music service available through the library, Freegal, contains millions of songs that can be downloaded or streamed.
Learning
For children, Tumblebook Library is offering free access right now through the library to its K-6 eBook database, which helps children build reading, math and literacy skills.
Learn business, software, technology, creative skills and more with access to Lynda.com, or try learning a new language with Rocket Languages interactive online learning platform.
Prepare for GED, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, CLEP, and other exams with the Testing & Education Reference Center. Use the resume builder tool, get basic skills help, search for college programs and scholarships, and more.
Wireless Internet
Wireless internet access is available from the library’s parking lots.
… and more
There’s so much more digital content to discover on the library’s website, nopl.org. Browse through dozens of old yearbooks from the Cicero-North Syracuse school district; read the Post-Standard newspaper; use the VIN decoder to read your vehicle’s history, including recent complaints and recalls; and access a variety of subject-specific databases.
Don’t forget that NOPL is on Facebook and Instagram, sharing important updates and things to keep you connected – like our first-ever virtual story time. If you have questions or need assistance using any of our digital services, you can get in touch with us on social media or through our website.
