Last week’s storm certainly reminded everyone that winter is still with us. Listed below are reminders of policies for inclement weather. Spring officially arrived on Monday, March 20, so hopefully spring weather will make an appearance in the very near future!
Listed below are reminders of policies for inclement weather.
Weather related closings:
- •If Syracuse schools are closed, there is no PEACE lunch.
- •Meals on Wheels is closed if the Baldwinsville and/or Liverpool schools are closed.
- •Canton Woods is closed only when the village of Baldwinsville is closed.
As always, use your best judgment for staying safe in the winter months.
Looking ahead to April
Due to a roof project, Canton Woods Senior Center building will be closed the first week of April, from Monday, April 3, to Friday, April 7. We will be holding very limited programs at the Baldwinsville Fire Station at 7911 Crego Road. We are truly grateful for the use of the firehouse; however, the space is limited. The days will be conducted as open rec. This means informal board and card games will be available, as well as adult coloring. There will be no fitness programs. If you are uncomfortable with a little organized chaos or a little less space, you may choose to make other plans for the week.
Canton Woods Summer Entertainment Series kicks off a little early this year. At 3 p.m. Monday April 10, Sentimental Serenade presents “Here’s to the Ladies.” The show features all songs made famous by female artists. Be sure to mark your calendar so you do not miss this performance.
Art Group meets at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 25 at Canton Woods. This group is facilitated by retired B’ville art teacher, Mike Conway. The group focuses on drawing and painting. Bring your sketch book and art supplies.
AARP Defensive Driving class is scheduled for April 13. The class is 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes fill up quickly. Call Canton Woods for more information and to sign up; (315) 638-4536.
Book Club is set to gather at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. Join the lively discussion.
Canton Woods now has a medication return collection unit. This is a safe and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your unused medications. You may drop off your unused medication to the return box at Canton Woods from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Senior nutrition
You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation at (315) 638-4536 and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $3.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Wednesday, March 29, the menu includes boneless chicken breast topped in Marsala sauce, seasoned wild rice, California blend vegetables and a butterscotch pudding cup. Make a reservation and join us for lunch!
